Question 830925: Two sides if a triangle have lengths 4cm and 5 cm. The 3rd side has x cm, where x is a positive integer. How many different values of x are there?
I know that you can use pythagoras for this ut I'm not sure how as you aren't told which side is which.

Question 834089: If it has one leg of length 01 and a hypotenuse of length 8, what is the length of the other leg? Do not round.
So what I have figured out is that I'm looking for a or b. The problem would look like this 8^2-01^2=x^2. I've tried to solve it but I couldn't come up with an answer.
I tried 8^2=64 and 01^2=2 so I thought subtracting them and them trying to find what squares into 62 would work but nothing works.

Question 836802: Okay, so I need help fully understanding how the Pythagorean theorem works in a question like: Does each set of numbers form a Pythagorean triangle? Explain why or why not. And then it gives me three numbers like: 15, 20, 25. (This is taken from a question that is similar to some assigned to me, but not the exact question, meaning that I can't use this answer to cheat, but to understand how to do my other questions!) Thanks for helping.

Question 840865: Does the set of numbers: 17, 19, 35 make an obtuse angle? And what about 16, 17, 31? I got obtuse for both of them but my answer choices doesn't contain that. It says one has to be obtuse and one does not make a triangle? So which is it? Am I going crazy or the problem's wacky? Thank you~ Have a nice day (:

Question 841945: Using The Pythagorean Theorem to solve quadratic equation.
Its for finding the sides of a right triangle.
the longest side says "x+4"
the others read "x" and "2x-2"
which equation is correct?
x^2 = (2x-2)^2 + (x+4)^2
x^2 + (x+4)^2 = (2x-2)^2
x^2 = (2x-2)^2-(x+4)^2
x^2 + (2x-2)^2 = (x+4)^2

Question 847965: The diagonal and the longer side of a rectangular plot are together three times the length of the shorter side. If the longer side exceeds the shorter side by 150 ft, what is the area of the plot?
I was able to come up with the following:
let s = shorter side
longer side = s + 150
then 3s = diagonal + (s + 150)
