Question 823735: A right triangle has an area of 60 ft(squared) and hypotenuse 17 ft. long. What are the lengths of its other two sides?
So we know that:
x * y = 120
and
x(squared) + y (squared) = 17 (squared)
but if I substitute y = 120/x into the second equation, it quickly becomes crazy. I have to multiply both sides by x (squared) to eliminate the fraction, and now I've got x to the 4th power to deal with and I get stuck.

Question 824026: the sides of a right angle triangle, in centimetres, are x, 2x-2, and x+2, where x+2 is the hypotenuse.
use pythagoras' theorem to find their lengths
in other words find x
the answer is:
x= 3cm
2x-2= 4cm
x+2= 5cm
but how do i find this?
