Question 428650: one leg of a triangle is 7 ft longer than other leg. The length of the hypothenuse is 13ft. Find the lengths of the other two sides.
How would I set this up? I know its a² + b² = c² but I don't know which is which or how to go about setting it up to solve.

Question 431701: I want to make sure I'm doing this right. Here are the instructions.
Let A & B represent the lengths of the legs of a right triangle and let C represent the length of the hypotenuse. Find the unknown length.
A=3, C=5
This is what I got.
3^2 + B^2 = 5^2
9 + B^2 = 25
3 + B = 5
B = 5 - 3
B = 2
Is this right?

Question 439895: Trying to find the length of the 2 sides of a rectangle. Only have the length of the line dissecting the rectangle. Thought using the Pythagorean would be the way to go but got stumped when using the ratios, as I don't have any of the side measurements.
Given:
C=21.5
Ratio of A:B = 16:9
Just a nudge in the right direction would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

Question 446910: I tried using the solver for this problem but I still can't get it right. Can someone help me? I have read about legs but I'm not sure which leg is which, so I'll have to descibe the problem as height, width, and diagonal. The problems says:
Use a Pythagorean theorem to find the value of x. The height of the triangle is x-10 and the diagonal is x+10, the width is x. When I used the solver it gave me the answer of 0, which was wrong.
Thanks
