Let's see if you can figure this out for yourself. Pick a spot on the floor in your living room and take three steps in some direction, and mark this spot. Measure the distance you moved taking the three steps. Now, go back to where you started but turn 1/4 turn in either direction, then take 2 steps and mark this spot. Go back to the end point of your three step walk, face in the same direction as your 2 step walk and take two steps. Compare the distance between the end points of your original three step walk with the distance between the end points of your two 2-step walks.
