Vertical side = 8ft
Hypotenuse^2 = Base side^2 + Vertical side^2
Hypotenuse^2 = 9 + 64
Hypotenuse side^2 = 73
Hypotenuse = sqrt%2873%29
Hypotenuse = 8.5 feet
Length of ladder = 8.5 feet (1 decimal place)
