Question 71503: Steven and Corinne each have GPS units for determining their precis positions. While starting from the same location, Steven heads off in a northeast direction for 180 meters and Corrine heads off in a northwest direction for 350 meters. How far apart are Steven and Corrine?
A 292.4 m
B 330.5 m
C 381.5 m
D 393.6 m
When I tried this problem, I drew a triangle out that was like this (please ignore the dashes and periods.....i put them there so all those spaces would be there and it would look like a triangle):

?
-\------------------|
--\.................|
----\...............|
------\.............| 180
350------\..........|
------------\.......|
---------------\....|
------------------\.|
--------------------\
I then used pythagorean theorem:
a^2+b^2=c^2
180^2+b^2=350^2
32400+b^2=122500
122500-32400=b^2
90100=b^2
300.16662039607268763449850971101=b
If there was an answer that was anywhere near that, I would assume that, but there is no answer less than nine numbers away from my answer.
Please help me!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Just use Pythagoras the way it is.
sqrt%28350%5E2%2B180%5E2%29=10sqrt%281549%29=393.57
