Question 599656: Find the measure of the side of a square with a diagonal of 6 centimeters. Express the answer to the neartest tenth, and in simple radical form.
Here is what I have done:
a?^2 + b^2 = c^2
a^2 + b ^2 = 6^2
a^2 + b^2=36
For the rounded answer, I got 4.2 after figuring out 36's square root is closer to 4 and using guess and check.
I'm confused on how to get the simple radical form(exact) answer.

Since we're dealing with a square, a = b
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
a^2 + a^2 = 6^2
2a^2 = 36
a^2 = 36/2
a^2 = 18
a = sqrt(18)
a = 3*sqrt(2)
a = 4.2426
Answer to the nearest tenth: 4.2 centimeters
Answer in simple radical form:
centimeters.
