The pythagorean theorem is:
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
Here:
a= 13
b= 9
c= unknown
Plug in the numbers to the formula.
13^2 + 9^2 = c^2
169 + 81 = c^2
250 = c^2
c^2 = 250 <---- by using the reflective property, I can switch sides.
c= √250
c ≈ 15.811
