Well in order to do this problem you must know the Formula. which is a%5E2+%2B+b%5E2+=+c%5E2
Now we can plug in the numbers:
8%5E2+%2B+5%5E2+=+c%5E2
Now Square a & b:
8%5E2=64 5%5E2=25
You are now left with:
64%2B25=c%5E2
Add the numbers and you are left with:
89=c%5E2
now you must get the square root of 89
sqrt%2889%29=9.43
(remember to round your number to the nearest tenth or hundredth's place in other words keep it to 1 0r 2 digits after the decimal)
So, c=9.43


To check your answer rewrite the equation:
8%5E2%2B5%5E2=9.43%5E2
Now Square all the numbers:
64+25=88.9249
(round 88.9249 to 89)
89=89
