You can put this solution on YOUR website! A 37-inch-square TV is on sale at the local electronics store. If 37 inches is the measure of the diagonal of the screen, use the Pythagorean theorem to find the length of the side of the screen.
.
Let x = length of the side of the screen
then
x^2 + x^2 = 37^2
2x^2 = 37^2
2x^2 = 1369
x^2 = 1369/2
x = sqrt(1369/2)
x = 26.163 inches

I've never seen a square screen, but
s =~ 26.16 inches

For modern TV's, the width to height ratio is 16:9. Using that:
But, for modern TV's, the width to height ratio is 16:9. Using that:
u =~ 2.016 inches
width = 16u =~ 32.25 inches
height = 9u =~ 18.14 inches

Don't buy the square one. Tho the screen area is larger, the format is not compatible.
