Question 179621: Help! I can work all of the other problems just fine, but this one is really throwing me off...
Given a right triangle...
leg a is unknown
leg b is "x"
and the hypotenuse is "2x" ...
I am trying to find the value of leg a and no matter what, I can't get it.
The teacher provides us with answers and she arrives at the answer of "square root of 3" ... I'm so confused. I don't know how she arrived at her answer. Any help will be appreciated! I'm going crazy trying and trying, erasing over and over again...

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let leg a be a
a%5E2%2Bx%5E2=%282x%29%5E2
:
a%5E2%2Bx%5E2=4x%5E2
:
a%5E2=3x%5E2
:
a=sqrt%283%29x
:
so the answer would be sqrt%283%29x
