A and B represent the legs or the sides that touch the right angle. c is the longest side and does not touch the right angle. lets say that a=3 and b=4. you need to square both a nad b giving you a=9 and b=16. now you need to add those together and take the square root 16+9=25 the square root of 25 is 5 and that is your answer for c.
