Question 1102222: Use the Pythagorean theorem to find the missing side. c=8, a=6, find b. Forgot this part: Simplify your answer. Type a radical expression in lowest terms. Thanks!! THIS IS NOT A DUPLICATE QUESTION - I NEED IT ANSWERED AS A RADICAL EXPRESSION IN LOWEST TERMS...

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Responses made already. Just do the simple algebraic step. Note, you could have a 3-4-5 type Right Triangle and the hypotenuse in your example would be 10.

(Otherwise)
If you wanted c=8 to be the longest side (hypotenuse), then just arrange the formula as a%5E2%2Bb%5E2=c%5E2
-
b%5E2=c%5E2-a%5E2
b=sqrt%28c%5E2-a%5E2%29
b=sqrt%288%5E2-6%5E2%29
b=sqrt%2864-36%29
b=sqrt%2828%29
b=sqrt%282%2A2%2A7%29
b=2%2Asqrt%287%29
