"There are three numbers. The third number is the greatest. When the 3rd number is divided by the 2nd number the quotient is 4. The difference between the 2nd and 3rd numbers is 654. If the 1st number is 109 more than the 2nd number, find the first number."

1st number = x
2nd number = y
3rd number = z

z/y = 4 -----> z = 4y
z - y = 654
x = y + 109

Substitute the first equation into the second.

4y - y = 654
3y = 654
y = 218

From here, x = y + 109 = 218 + 109 = 327
