sqrt(x+2) - (x+1) = x - 1
Add (x+1) to each side.
sqrt(x+2) = x - 1 + ( x + 1 )
sqrt(x+2) = 2x
Square each side.
x+2 = 4x^2
Reordering
4x^2 -x -2 = 0
Using quadratic formula and using the root that works in
the original equation we get
