Question 697384: if the correlation coefficient is 0.65, what is the sign of the slope of the regression line?
- As the correlation coefficient decreases from -0.97 to -0.99, do the points of the scatter plot move toward the regression line, or away from it?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if the correlation coefficient is 0.65, what is the sign of the slope of the regression line?

the sign is positive because if the correlation coefficient is positive, then the slope of the regression line is positive.

As the correlation coefficient decreases from -0.97 to -0.99, do the points of the scatter plot move toward the regression line, or away from it?

They move closer to the regression line (which has a negative slope) since as r gets closer to +1 or -1, then the data gets closer to the regression line.
