Question 53915: Ms simms told her class to find two consecutive even integers such that twice the lesser of two integers is four less than two times the greater.
Answer by Dawn_Mandira(2) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! CONSECUTIVE EVEN INTEGERS CAN BE WRITTEN AS x,x+2,x+4.....
LETS TAKE TWO OF THEM SAY, x AND x+2.
x IS THE LESSER NO. AND x+2 THE GREATER NO.
AS GIVEN,
TWICE THE LESSER OF THE TWO NUMBERS IS FOUR LESS THAN TWICE THE GREATER.
2x = 2(x+2)-4
2x = 2x+4-4
2x = 2x
WE FIGURE OUT THAT, x = 0
x+2 =2
THEREFORE, THE NUMBERS ARE, 0 AND 2.

NOTE:RECHECK! 0 AND 2 ARE CONSECUTIVE EVEN INTEGERS AND ALSO TWICE 0 IS FOUR LESS THAN TWICE 2
