Question 463709: the sum of the least and greatest of three consecutive integers is 32 more than the middle integer. what are the three integers
Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x = 1st consecutive integer
x + 1 = 2nd consecutive integer
x + 2 = 3rd consecutive integer
x + x + 2 = x + 1 + 32 {sum of least and greatest is 32 more than the middle}
2x + 2 = x + 33 {combined like terms}
x + 2 = 33 {subtracted x from both sides}
x = 31 {subtracted 2 from both sides}
x + 1 = 32 {substituted 31, in for x, into x + 1}
x + 2 = 33 {substituted 31, in for x, into x + 2}
31, 32, 33 are the three consecutive integers}
