Question 955213: Musquodoboit World Airways operates a fleet of small passenger planes. Like most major airlines it has a
problem with no-shows, people who make reservations, but don't show up for their flight or cancel at the
last minute. Their no-show rate is 20%, comparable to the industry average. One type of aircraft used by
MWA can accommodate up to 16 passengers.
a) If they accept 16 reservations, what is the probability that the plane departs with every seat filled (0 noshows)?
b) As is common in the industry, MWA overbooks its flights. For this size aircraft, it accepts up to 17
reservations. Suppose that MWA has accepted 17 reservations for a particular flight. What is the
probability that everyone who shows up will get a seat?

Question 955360: i just need someone to check and see if these Probability and Statistics questions are right .....
A. Jose spins the spinner 8 times. In those 8 spins, the arrow never lands on 3. Based on this information, is the spinner unfair? Explain.
Well there only one number 3 so that will be (1/4) that equals 25% the spinner together equals 100% so if the spinner is spin 8 times and doesn't land on a 3 he should be concerned.
Jose spins the spinner 500 times. In those 500 spins, the arrow lands on 3 a total of 42 times. Based on this information, should Jose be concerned that the spinner is unfair? Explain.Yes the spinner is begin unfair again he has a 25% chance to get the 3 if you multiply 25% by 500 you get 125 if you divide 125 by 500 it equals 25% again so if 42/500 equals 8.4% you know something has to be wrong

Question 955359: Table of Data includes:
Population in the United States as a function of time
x(years since 1920):{0,10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90}
y(Population in millions): {106,123.2,132.2,151.3,179.3,203.3,226.5,248.7,281.4,308.7}
Find:
1). Draw a scatter plot : Done already
2). Use calculator to find "the line of best fit" for this data. Show the equation.
I found approximately y=2.28x+93.41
3). What is the slope of the line? I know it is 2.28
What is the meaning in this application? (Give its units.)
I believe the meaning is to go up 2.28 and over one. In units I would say roughly twenty but I was hoping for better help in a translation of this answer. I believe I am incorrect.
4). By hand, develop an exponential model of the form A=Aoe^kt using the data from 1920 and 2000. Round the value of k to 4 decimal places.
I am unsure on how to do this.
5). Use your calculator to find "exponential function of best fit" for this data. Show the equation.
y=106.726(1.0124)^x
6). use function found in 5) to determine the annual percentage rate of growth of the United States
I assume 1.24%
