Question 907831: Hello,
I am trying to figure out what the odds were for a drawing at my school. There were 36 students in the drawing for 18 spots. Of that, 5 girls who do extra volunteering for the school were all selected. I do not believe the teachers really used a blind lottery. How do I calculate the odds that these 5 girls would be selected in the group of 18? I can't even figure out where to start. Thank you!

Question 907853: These questions were just solved a few minutes ago however the answers are a little different.
What is the probability that two of the students was born in July?
The answer in my book says 11/576 however when I do (1/12) x (1/12) x (11/12) it equals to 11/1728
What is the probability that one of the students was born in July? When I do (1/12) x (11/12) x (11/12) I get 121/1728.
The answer in my book says 121/576.
Are the answers wrong (because some answers in my book are wrong) or has there been a miscalculation?
I appreciate the help :) Sorry if confusing
