it does not imply any ranking.
if it implied ranking, it would be ordinal.
it's true you can sort it, but i don't believe that is what is meant by ordinal.
it is a qualitative variable which means it is non-numeric.
if it were numeric, it would be further divided into discrete and continuous, but it's not.
my gues is nominal because that category fits the best.
