Question 606839: Players play a game called Spin the wheel you get to spin. You could land on any number 1-40. What would be the probability as a fraction if it was a multiple of 6? Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
The probability of anything is the number of ways that you can have a successful outcome divided by the total number of outcomes. If your spinner has 40 slots each with a different number, then you have 40 total outcomes. The number being divisible by 6 is the criterion for a successful outcome. All you have to do is count how many of the numbers between 1 and 40 are divisible by 6.
Hint: Count by 6s and write down the number each count. Stop when you get to a number larger than 40. Cross out the last number. Count the remaining numbers.
