Question 363853: Hello, Can someone show me how to draw a tree diagram, I am really trying but I having a hard time been out of school for 15 years.
Original Question:
Literature Choices You decide to take a Literature course. A requirement for the course is that you must read one classic book, one nonfiction book, and one science fiction book from the list below.
Classic Nonfiction Science Fiction
A Farewell to Arms (F) John Adams(J) War of the Worlds (W)
The Grapes of Wrath (G) Band of Brothers (B) Dune (D)
Tom Sawyer (T)
Moby-Dick (M)
• b) Construct a tree diagram and determine the sample space. Determine the probability that
• c) John Adams is selected.
• d) either A Farewell to Arms or Moby-Dick is selected.
• e) Moby-Dick is not selected.
I have a tree diagram but I not sure if it right it has 4*2*2=16 points. Each point has three numbers in it separated by commas. (3,1,2)=Tom Sawyer, John Adams, Dune.
Classic for classic I have four branches
Nonfiction I have two branches
Science Fiction I have two branches
with the numbers 3, 2, 1.
I not sure if anyone can help me with this but if you can I really would appreciate it, or atleast tell me how to draw the tree.
Thank you

Hi,
this question was recently covered by one of our very experienced tutors as follows:
As to a 'tree diagram' to describe all 16 selections possible, might recommend
beginning with the four classics, F,G, T, or M and then branching off from
each of those to choose one of the nonfiction J or B and "then" branching off
from each of the J and B to choose one of the a science fiction W or D.
Classic
1. A Farewell to Arms (F)
2. The Grapes of Wrath (G)
3. Tom Sawyer (T)
4. Moby-Dick (M)
.
Nonfiction:
1. John Adams(J)
2. Band of Brothers (B)
.
Science Fiction
1. War of the Worlds (W)
2. Dune (D)
.
a) 4*2*2=16 points. Each point will have three numbers in it separated by commas. (3,1,2)=Tom Sawer, John Adams, Dune.
You MUST understand sample space.
.
c) 1/2
.
d) 2/4=1/2
.
e) 3/4
