Question 357977: Suppose you have 8 pairs of shoes and they are all mixed up in your closet. If you randomly pick two shoes in the dark, what is the probability that they are the same pair of shoes? Note: Since you are choosing them randomly, you simply reach down in the dark and pick two shoes without feeling around for the same style or shape.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

no. of ways to choose one pair out of 8 pairs = 8

no. of ways to choose 2 shoes out of 16 = 16C2 = 120

probability that they are the same pair of shoe= 8 /120

= 1/15
