Question 322847: Refer to question three. the professor who teahes the course is suffering from the flu and will be unavailable for two classes. The professor replacement will teach the next two classes. His styles is to select one student at random and pick on him or her to answer questions during that class. What is the probability that the two students chosen are females?
Answer by Fombitz(32388) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let M be the number of male students in class, F the number of females students.
The probability of the first female chosen is
P(1st)=F/(M+F)
The probability of the second female (since 1's already chosen) is,
P(2nd)=(F-1)/(M+F-1)
The probability for both multiplies the two,
P(both females)=F(F-1)/((M+F)(M+F-1))
