So for this one, we have three numbers that average out to be 96
Therefore the sum of these numbers is equal to 96 x 3 = 288
Then we subtract 85 from 288 and get = 203
So we know that x + y = 203
Therefore, the average of these two numbers is the sum divided byt he number of parts:
203/2 = 101.5
Therefore:
the average of x and y is 101.5
