Three ways to pick your salad. For each of those three ways, there are eight ways to pick your main dish, so there are 3 times 8 equals 24 ways to pick your salad and your main dish. For each of those 24 ways, there are five ways to select your dessert, so there are 24 times 5 equals 120 ways to choose your three course meal.
