Question 1178259: You and your friend are taking the driving test to obtain your driver’s license. The probability for you to pass the test is 0.9 and for your friend, it is 0.8, Calculate the probability that you two make a total of 6 attempts to obtain your licenses. (if you got your license on the 2nd attempt and your friend got his on 3rd attempt, you made a total of 5 attempts, for example)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Straightforward calculations, using basic rules of probability....
(1) You 5 tries (4 failures and 1 success) and your friend 1 try:
P(5,1) = (.1)(.1)(.1)(.1)(.9)*(.8)
(2) You 4 tries and your friend 2 tries:
P(4,2) = (.1)(.1)(.1)(.9)*(.2)(.8)
etc...
P(3,3) = ...
P(2,4) = ...
P(1,5) = ...
Add the probabilities for all the cases....
