Question 1178255: When placed in a maze, a mouse has a 35% chance of finding the cheese at the end of the maze. What is the probability of the mouse finding the cheese
a) in three consecutive attempts?
b) in three of four attempts?
--------------------------
This is what I got, is it right?
A maze, 35% of finding the cheese at the end of the maze.
a) Finding the cheese 3 times in a row?
Probability of finding the end= 35% = (0.35 x 0. 35 x 0.35) x100 =4.2875 %
Probability of not finding end=65%
b) 3 or 4 attempts?
0.353 + 0.354 =5.7881

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Your answer to the first question is right; and you show the correct calculations.

Your answer to the second question is not right; and you DON'T show your calculations, so we don't know what you did wrong.

If you want to learn from using this forum, then re-post showing HOW you got your second answer and we can help you with learning the right way.

The point of this response is that on the first part you did exactly what we ask you to do: show your work. It's unfortunate you didn't do the same thing for the second part.
