The probability of rain tomorrow in St.John's is 40%, and the probability of no rain tomorrow in St.John's is 60%
odds: 40%2F60=4%2F6=2%2F3-> the odds of rain tomorrow is 2%3A3

If the probability is 40% that it will rain, then there are 40 similar circumstances in which it will rain and 100 total similar circumstances, or 2 successes divided by 5 possibilities. If there are 5 possibilities and 2 of them are successes, then three must be failures. The odds of anything are the number of successes : the number of failures. 2:3
