Question 1143462: I have a probability question that I am struggling to understand.
It reads, " All three sections of the spinner are equal in size (yellow, blue, red). A person spins the spinner 3 times. What is the probability the spinner will land on a different color for each spin?" The answer is 2/9, but I do not understand how it was calculated. I am confused because of the probability of the spinner landing on "a different color" instead of a specific color.

Now I will explain you what does it mean.


At the first spin, you will get one of the three colors. Any one of the three.


At the second spin you want to get DIFFERENT color from what you get at the first spin.


The probability of it is  2%2F3, obviously.


At the third spin, you want to get the THIRD different color.


The probability to get it is  1%2F3,  obviously.


It gives you the answer.
