Question 1104669: Please help find the answer to the question
A study of a population showed that males' body temperatures are approximately Normally distributed with a mean of 98.2 degrees Fahrenheit and a population standard deviation of 0.50 degrees Fahrenheit. What body temperature does a male have if he is at the 91st percentile? Draw a well-labeled sketch to support your answer.

This normal distribution says that 50% of the population is below 98.2 degrees and 50% of the population is above 98.2. So the median is the 50 percentile.
:
The 91st percentile is the temperature that holds 91% of the temperatures below it and 9% above it.
:
we let X be the temperature for the 91st percentile, then
:
X = mean + standard deviation * Z
:
Z value for 91st percentile is 1.34(from table of Z values)
:
X = 98.2 + 0.50 * 1.34 = 98.87
