Question 1098654: the probability that a student owns a cat is .44. The probability that a student owns a dog is .53. If the probability that a student does not own either a cat or a dog is .15, find the probability that a student chosen at random owns a cat and a dog

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If the probability that a student owns neither cat nor dog is 0.15, then the probability that they own either a cat, or a dog, or both is 1-0.15=0.85. So:
.53 + .44=.97
.97 - .85=0.12 probability that the random student has both a cat and a dog.
