probability is 90% that the next person i run into is right handed (100% - 10% = 90%).
probability and percent occurrences are related.
if something occurs x% of the time, then the probability it will occur the next time is x%.
when you see something occurring x% of the time, then the probability is called experimental probability.
if you calculate what the percent should be, then the probability is called theoretical probability.
example would be flipping a coin.
theoretical probability says the coin should come up heads 50% of the time.
if you actually flip the coin many times and it comes up heads 60% of the time, then your experimental probability for flipping that particular coin is 60%.
