Question 1062780: Suppose there are eight different books on algebra, four different books on discrete mathematics, and five different books on history.
(a) In how many ways can these books be arranged on a shelf?
I came up with multiple answers
answer 1= total number of book is 17 then answer = 17!
answer 2= 8!*4!*5!
answer 3= 8*4*5
answer 4= P(17,8)*P(9,4)*5!
i don't know if any of them is correct or all of them are wrong

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Suppose there are eight different books on algebra, four different books on discrete mathematics, and five different books on history.
(a) In how many ways can these books be arranged on a shelf?
I came up with multiple answers
answer 1= total number of book is 17 then answer = 17!
answer 2= 8!*4!*5!
answer 3= 8*4*5
answer 4= P(17,8)*P(9,4)*5!
i don't know if any of them is correct or all of them are wrong
------------
Since it says "different books..." it's 17!
