Question 873667: Determine the degree of the following polynomial. 19x
Answer by LinnW(1048) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The degree of a polynomial is the degree of the highest term in the polynomial.
Since this polynomial only has one term, when we find its degree, we
will have the degree of the polynomial.
The term is 19x. The degree of a term is the sum of the exponents of the
variable portion. The variable portion is x. x by itself has an implied
exponent of 1, that is x = x^1. So the degree of this term is 1 , and
the degree of the polynomial 19x is 1.
