You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If you do not believe it can be factored through simple guess trials, then use the general formula for solution to a quadratic equation. First find discriminant:

12x%5E2%2B17x%2B6=0 compare with ax%5E2%2Bbx%2Bc=0. Discrim, b%5E2-4%2Aa%2Ac.
Discriminant is 17%5E2-4%2A12%2A6=289-288=1;
Upon this, maybe factoring SHOULD be tried!
Seeing no negatives or subtractions, expect only binomial factors containing positive constant terms.
As solved next, the solutions are not integers, so the trial and examinations for simple factoring is not so fast.

In continuing the general solution,
x=%28-17%2B-+sqrt%281%29%29%2F%282%2A12%29
x=%28-17-1%29%2F24 OR x=%28-17%2B1%29%2F24
highlight%28x=-%283%2F4%29%29 OR highlight%28x=-%282%2F3%29%29
