Supply = 3%2F4 Demand

1.8 Trillion = 3%2F4 Demand

Multiply both sides of the given equation by the reciprocal of 3/4, which is 4/3.
%284%2F3%29+%2A+1.8+=+%284%2F3%29%2A%283%2F4%29+Demand
+4%2A.6=++Demand
Demand = 2.4 Trillion tons.

Let the world grain demand in 2010 be x trillion metric tons
So the supply = (3/4)x
But the supply is given to be 1.8 trillion metric tons
==> (3/4)x = 1.8
==> x = 1.8 * (4/3) [multiplying by (4/3) on both the sides]
==> x = 2.4
Thus the world grain demand in 2010 = 2.4 trillion metric tons
