= height of building in feet
You would multiply 11 feet times the number of floors to get the height of the building in feet.
A fifth grader should know that, and they tell you that in the problem.

You may be tempted to write it as

and that is OK too. It means the same thing.
(We just like to put numbers in front of variables. It is one of those formatting things that you end up doing because a lot of people are used to seeing it that way, and it makes a lot of people less grumpy).
Do not be afraid of the word equation. It just means two expressions connected by an equal sign, like the formula for the area of a triangle,
