Question 721070: A rectangular picture has a length of 2x+2 and a width of x-4 inches.
•Part A was asking to sketch and label the picture, which I did.
•Part B asked to write the expression in terms of x that represents the area of the picture and to simplify the expression. Here is my work:
(2x+2)(x-4)= 2x^2+2x-8x-8=2x^2-6x-8
=2(x^2-3-4)
I am not sure if my final expression is the correct answer. Can you please check?
•Part C was simple. I did it with no problem.
•Part D asks "You decide to frame the picture with a frame that is x units wide. Sketch the picture w/ its frame. Determine the dimension, in terms of x, of the framed picture."
I am not sure how to do this problem. Could you please explain?
•Part E states " Write an expression, in terms of x, for the area of the framed picture. Simplify your expression." Help w/ this one as well please??
•(LAST PART... I PROMISE!! haha) Part F asks "Find the area, in terms of x, of the frame alone." How to solve?? Answer by lynnlo(4176) (Show Source):
