You can put this solution on YOUR website! Eden can paint a house in 12 hours. Mimie can paint the same house in 9 hours, how long would it take them working together to paint the house?
-----------
Eden DATA:
time = 12 hr/job ;rate=(1/12) job/hr
--------
Mimie DATA:
time = 9 hr/job ; rate =(1/9) job/hr
------------
Together DATA:
time = x hr/job ; rate = (1/x)job/hr
----------------------
EQUATION:
rate + rate = rate together
1/12 + 1/9 = 1/x
Multiply thru by 36x to get:
3x + 4x = 36
7x=36
x=36/7 hrs or x=5 hr 9 minutes
----------
