2. Use parentheses so that it is clear what quantities belong in the numerator and which in the denominator. Your expressions are more than ambiguous -- they can be interpreted several different ways each. For example, does -5/2x mean , in which case you should have written -(5/2)x, or does it mean , in which case you should have written -5/(2x).
