Question 589748: please help me solve and understand this problem
my math teacher gave me this work to due but i have been sick for a few weeks and i dont understand
given the polynominal function f(x), find the rational zeros, than the other zeros (that is, solve the equation f(x)=0),and factor f(x) into linear factors
f(x)=x^3+2x^2+49x+98

please respons asap

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
f(x) into linear factors
f(x) = x^3 + 2x^2 + 49x + 98
x^3 + 2x^2 + 49x + 98 = 0
:
We can group factor here
x^2(x+2) + 49(x+2) = 0
:
Factor out (x+2)
(x+2)(x^2+49) = 0
x = -2; the rational 0
and
x^2 + 49 = 0
x^2 = -49
x = +/-sqrt%28-49%29
factor out the square root of -1
x = +/-i%2Asqrt%2849%29
x = + 7i
x = - 7i
