Write the 1970 and 2007 defense budgets in scientific notation.

$495,000,000,000=4.95*〖10〗^11
You can find the percent of increase in the defense budget from 1970 to 2007 by following these steps:
Find the increase in sales from 1970 to 2007.
495,000,000,000-82,000,000,000=413,000,000,000

You can put this solution on YOUR website! I'm going to ignore the "billions" part for now and assume every number is in billions (eg: when i say 16, i mean 16 billion)
Percent Increase = 100* [ (New Amount - Old Amount)/(Old Amount) ]
Percent Increase = 100* [ (495-82)/(82) ]
Percent Increase = 100*413/82
Percent Increase = 100*5.036585
Percent Increase = 503.6585%
So the percent increase is 503.6585%
