Question 478831: Hello. My question is determine whether x-1 or x+1 is a factor of . I know this includes polynomial division, and I assume it has to do something about how x^100 is raised to an even root. Thanks in advance Answer by ewatrrr(24785) (Show Source):
Hi,
is (x-1) or (x+1) a factor of x^100 -4x^99 = 3
That is: does x = 1 or x = -1 satisfy: x^100-4x^99 - 3 = 0
1 - 4 - 3 ≠ 0 and 1 + 4 -3 ≠ 0 Neither are factors
