Which of the following describes the end behavior of the graph of the
function f(x) = 4x^5 – x + 10 ? Explain.
----
Ans: 4x^5 determines the end behavior of the graph.
---
As x goes to -oo, 4x^5 goes to -oo (or downward)
---
As x goes to +oo, 4x^5 goes to +oo (or upward)
----A
Ans: B

Note that for polynomial functions, the limit as x goes to infinity will be determined by the leading coefficient. You can pretty much ignore the -x+10 terms and determine the limits of 4x^5 when x approaches infinity or negative infinity (should be pretty straightforward). B is the correct answer.
