You can put this solution on YOUR website! janet can shovel snow from her driveway in 30 minutes. Bill can do the same job in 40 minutes. How long would it take Janet and Bill if they shovel together?
-------------------
Janet rate = 1/30 job/min
Bill rate = 1/40 job/min
----
Together rate = 1/x job/min
--------------------------
Equation:
rate + rate = together rate
---
1/30 + 1/40 = 1/x
----
Multiply thru by 120x to get:
4x + 3x = 120
7x = 120
x = 120/7 = 17.14 minutes (together time)
