Question 420013: A tank hold (x^2 + 3x) gallons of water. What is an expression for the capacity of the tank in quarts?
I'm thinking since there are 4 quarts in a gallon I would take 4(x^2+3x) to get 4x^2 + 12x, but I'm not sure. Thanks for any help you can give me.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Since 4 quarts = 1 gallon, we can multiply both sides by x%5E2%2B3x to get

4%28x%5E2%2B3x%29 quarts = 1%28x%5E2%2B3x%29 gallons

4x%5E2%2B12x quarts = x%5E2%2B3x gallons

So you are correct. Good job.
