1) Any irrational value for y will result in an irrational result.
2) No value fro y will result in a rational number (that I can see). If one could find a value for y that resulted in y%5E2-y+=+6e, then that would work. Otherwise, e is irrational, subtracting that from anything that isn't exactly 6e seems to me to end up being irrational
