You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Most people would agree that working without fractions is easier than working with fractions. So the simplest way to solve this equation is to start by eliminating the fractions.

The fractions in an equation can be eliminated by multiplying both sides of the equation by the Lowest Common Denominator (LCD) of all the denominators on both sides of the equation. (Actually any common denominator will work. But using the LCD make things easiest.)

In your equation, w%2F6+-+w%2F15+=+1%2F6, your denominators are 6, 15 and 6. The LCD of 6 and 15 is 30. So we will multiply both sides of the equation by 30:
30%28w%2F6+-+w%2F15%29+=+30%281%2F6%29
On the left side we will use the Distributive Property to multiply each term by 30. When we multiply each term we will find that the denominator will cancel out with one fo the factors of 30. In this way the fractions will vanish!
5w+-2w+=+5
The equation is now a very simple one to solve! Combine the like terms on the left:
3w+=+5
Divide each side by 3:
w+=+5%2F3
